photo-free

So, that generous gift from my mother is still sitting in my purse, waiting to be spent on a new camera . . . or something.

Last Friday I spent a good hour at the local electronics warehouse store playing with cameras. I walked away with the following conclusions:

  1. I can’t afford a dSLR.
  2. Even if I had a dSLR, I would probably want a point-and-shoot anyway.
  3. There are some point-and-shoots that have theĀ features that I want (aperture priority, shutter priority, etc.)
  4. The big, old camera that my mom let me borrow has all of those features and is 7.1 megapixels (not too shabby). Maybe I just need to play with it more to figure it out.
  5. That big, old camera runs on AA batteries. They died. I never buy batteries. I don’t want a camera that runs on AA’s.
  6. That big, old camera seems to take terrible photos with the flash, does poorly in low light without the flash, and has an incredibly slow button press to exposure speed.
  7. Maybe I DO need to buy a new camera.

Hmmm, I might be shopping on Black Friday after all. I’ll be at c-net if you need me.
